tomato plants

the tomatoes are going bonkers! We always grow a few heirloom varities for us to eat, can and freeze. These are Brandywines..

bronze fennel A beautiful bronze fennel plant, blooming. We'll harvest the seeds for use in yummy breads and other flavorings.
buck roses Our Buck Roses are enjoying the cooler weather!.

buck roses Another variety of Buck Rose. These were developed by ISU professor Dr. Buck to grow specifically in Iowa. We love them because they are hardy, do not need to be covered in the winter, and come in an amazing array of shapes and colors.

comfrey blossom

A beautiful comfrey blossom in the shade.

hibiscus

A hardy hibiscus. Seems like these are too beautiful and exotic to withstand harsh Iowa winters, but they do nonetheless.

feverfew

Besides having many herbal medicinal uses, feverfew is beautiful in cut flower bouquets.

puppymonster

And, the newest addition to the Prairieland Herbs family - Oliver is Maggie's 4 month old mastiff mix puppy.
